rescue . rehabilitate . rehome
Never in a million years could you have convinced my younger self that I would start a non-profit cat rescue in my 20's. I've grown up a dog lover, and went to sleep every night with at least two shelter dogs snuggled up next to me in bed. By far, the best way to go to sleep in my opinion! While we adored our pups, we have always been dedicated animal lovers, regardless of what species, but we were never a "cat" household. As a matter of fact, I'm allergic to cats!
As I grew up, I discovered that my passion in life was helping animals, and I became a licensed veterinary technician. I worked with both cats and dogs in veterinary medicine for 5 years prior to rescuing any cats! It's so wild, because even working with cats during that time, I was really just interested in the dogs!
I'm a really firm believer that everything truly happens for a reason. Cue the spring of 2012, and my grandpa we called "Pop" was in the hospital for a hip replacement after taking a pretty tough fall. As I'm there visiting him, I glance out of the hospital window, and you wouldn't believe what I saw: four, five week old black kittens scrounging for food in an abandoned gas station lot.
That day was my first cat rescue.
That day changed everything.
AND SO THIS JOURNEY BEGAN . . .
