"B a i l e y"

Bailey was a very unexpected rescue. I was tagged in a post on Facebook late one Saturday night while out to dinner, about this dog on the "To Be Destroyed" list at a shelter. She was scheduled to be destroyed the following afternoon. Unfortunately, I get tagged in these types of posts all the time, but something about this face of hers spoke to me, and I knew I had to try and figure out a way to help. Unplanned and unscheduled, I contacted everyone that I knew to see if they knew anyone that might be interested in adopting her. Striking out one by one with options, I changed my plans for that next day, and dragged my boyfriend to NYC. I met Bailey, put down a deposit, and took her home the following night. Never has anything been more meant to be. This dog was dumped by her last owner after recently having a litter of puppies. She was confused and a little lost, but that didn't stop her from being anything short of amazing. Within the first five days, Bailey showed me her range of tricks up her sleeve. She knew how to sit, stay, down, paw, and come. I even brought her to my boyfriend's house upstate the first weekend I had her, and let her run off leash in the country. She came to me every time I called for her. She clearly was loved by someone at some point, which tugs at your heartstrings even more. She has the best life these days with my co-worker, enjoying her flock of chicken friends, her canine sisters, and her abundance of four-legged friends. I get to see her all the time, and I'm so happy that things worked out the way they did.
