rescue . rehabilitate . rehome
"E m m y"

Emmy and her brother Oscar hold a special place in my family's hearts. I got a call from a family friend of mine one day in the beginning of June. She works at a flower shop near town where I have rescued kittens from before. She said that there was a mom cat and her five kittens in need of rescue on their property. A co-worker of hers had already gotten three of the kittens and needed help with the other two.
Enter Oscar and Emmy. This duo was about 8 weeks old when I got them. They were filled with fleas and very shy. I treated them medically for everything they needed, and very carefully gave them baths. Emmy looked just like a Russian Blue, so gorgeous was quite the understatement. She was definitely much more guarded and shy than her brother. It did take her a while to come around, but we didn't rush her. It did pay off in the end, because she did come out of her shell with the help of her confident brother Oscar. We ended up having Oscar and Emmy at my parent's house for about 3-3.5 months before finding them their forever home. But they were adopted TOGETHER, which was a non-negotiable for me in their situation. Emmy NEEDED her brother. She needed his confidence, so it was really about finding the perfect fit for a forever home for them. And it happened! They landed a great home with the sweetest couple who love and adore them! They're even patients at my animal hospital so I get to see them on a regular basis!
(The first photo in the slideshow is the day of their rescue and the last photo is the day they were adopted with their new parents!)
