"G e o r g e"

George's story started when I was contacted by a man whose cat, a former feral, had gotten out of the house accidentally 6 days prior. He had tried everything. He was a really caring dad who missed his girl terribly. Even more of a time concern....dad and family were moving in only a few weeks, so we NEEDED to catch her asap! Her concerned dad had gotten night vision goggles, bought a trap, and had painstakingly seen her every single night outside of the house, but from a distance. She wouldn't allow him to get close, because she was outside and in feral mode. However, her dad had seen her every single night sitting in this storm drain above a deep ravine on the side of his property.
Well, after two days of trap setting, and unintentionally catching an un-neutered stray (whom the dad later ended up adopting!), my handy dandy dad, Bob came with me to the property to figure out what other tactics we could try. The storm drain was located above a deep ravine in the property, and there was no level ground there to set a trap to catch her.
Of course my dad came up with a plan!
We determined that the storm drain had only one entrance/exit that his cat George could fit through, so we devised a plan to have Bob make a contraption out of the trap that would block George in. He configured a way to set the trap off the group from the ravine so that it butted up to the storm drain entrance. She would have no way out, other than going into the trap. We waited for George's dad's call that she was inside the drain, and we blocked the hole with a net, while we were able to set the trap! Then it was a waiting game. We had wait until George got hungry enough to go inside!

Two hours later, we got the call form George's dad that she was in the trap! We got her inside in a small room to let her re-acclimate, and her dad brought her into the vet office the following day. She had lost some weight and was a bit dehydrated, but overall okay!

Success story!
