"H e r b i e"

This is Herbie. Herbie has QUITE the story. Herbie was rushed into my animal hospital by a woman who witnessed him get hit by a car in January. To say he was in grave condition would be a major understatement. One of his eyes was bulging out of his head showing that there was swelling in the brain, his bottom jaw was split in half and blood was pouring from his mouth, and his chances of surviving were incredibly slim. On top of it all, he was VERY feral (wild)!!! My boss committed to trying to help save him.
The day after his accident, he was stable enough to take to surgery. We removed his bulging eye, put a wire in his lower jaw, and neutered him. Weeks and weeks of pain medication, TLC, patience and healing... And this photo.

Herbie did fantastic and was THRIVING! He has become so loving and affectionate with people. I fell so in love with him.
He is FIV positive, which only means that his immune system is weakened. The virus dos not medically affect his lifespan and does not require any medication. He has become by far, the sweetest, most appreciative boy I think I’ve ever met. He loves to be with people, and loves attention and affection.

I met an awesome man from NYC who fell in love with Herbie and his story, and wanted to adopt him. He works from home and would spend all day hanging out with Herbie. It sounded all too perfect. Only 2 months after Herbie's tragic accident, I personally drove Herbie to his forever home to meet his new dad. The day was very much so bittersweet. I believe the two of them will be best buds. This cat deserves the world after what he went through, and I'm so happy for his future and his new lease on life.

I love you my pigeon <3
