rescue . rehabilitate . rehome
"H o p e"

Hope's story is a little different than the rest. Hope was brought to me from a previous adopter who spotted her almost frozen to death in the snow by her car. She was a block of ice and minutes away from death's door. Her back leg was broken, but that was the least of her worries. After about two hours with a hair dryer and hot towels, Hope started to regain mobility. Once her temperature began to reach normalcy, I soon discovered that she was feral. It was decided by a vet to let the leg heal on it's own, because there was no way she would allow us to change splints weekly. A few weeks had gone by with Hope, without any excitement. She was still feral, and she was confined for her leg to begin to heal. Until one day I noticed that she seemed much quieter than usual. Within the next 48 hours, Hope was completely paralyzed. Unfortunately, she had to be humanely euthanized and sent out for testing. It turns out that whoever mangled her rear leg was rabid, and Hope had been infected with Rabies. Although Hope's story has a sad ending, I find comfort in knowing that she did not die outside in the freezing cold alone. She had friends, warmth, and most importantly love surrounding her.
Rest in Peace Hope
