"P e e p"

Peep was born at the rescue along with her three siblings, when I took her pregnant mom Emma in, from a client at my job. He was overwhelmed with the amount of cats he had taken in from his property. He was trying to do a good thing by helping all of the cats, but there were too many and it became too much to handle. He brought Emma in to get spayed one day at work, and he was a little too late...she was actually VERY pregnant! I offered to take her into the rescue, and allow her to give birth in a quiet space. The gentleman was very grateful, and he wanted to take her back into his home and keep her after she had given birth and dried up and was able to get spayed.

Peep was born, and had two brothers and one sister. A terrifying freak accident happened at birth, and Peep and her brother Cadbury each had a hing leg with the umbilical chord wrapped tightly around. So tight, that the legs needs to come off IMMEDIATELY. At 44 hours old, I had to make the gut-wrenching decision whether to do partial limb amputations on both of them, or put them to sleep. We went ahead and did below the stifle partial hind limb amputations on both babies, and crossed all the fingers and toes we had. The chances of them surviving such a surgery without the option of anesthesia because of their size and age were slim. But low and behold, we had some fighters on our hands, and these babies weren't giving up. We reached the 72 hour post-surgery mark, and I couldn't have been more elated.

Both sisters Peep and Pastel found the most amazing forever home together, with the sweetest of all sweet families! Peep healed beautifully from her partial amputation, and her family keeps a close eye on her nub, because there is a possibility that she will need a full amputation in the future. I get to see the two girls at work, and I keep in touch with their awesome family! Peep is such a miracle baby, and I'm grateful everyday that she fought so hard to be here to enjoy such a great life with her sister and her forever family!
