"M a m a"

Where to begin with Mama?

It all started in September when I got a phone call from a friend saying that she believed she saw a kitten in her loft above her garage. I headed over there and to my surprise, there was an adult cat hanging out in the loft. We soon discovered that this cat was super social, but clearly on guard. We knew she had at least one kitten somewhere, and we were determined to find it. After over an hour of searching with no luck, we left with the adult cat, now known as Mama. We set a kitten trap and crossed our fingers.

We ended up catching the kitten in the trap following day! We kept the trap set for a week after, just in case there were anymore kittens. We determined there was just the one kitten. He was named Robbie.

I soon discovered how awesome Mama was! She was a dog in a cat's body! By far, one of the coolest cats that I've ever met. She got to know her name and would come when called, she learned to sit on command better than most dogs, and had the confidence of a lion. I fell hard for her, quickly! It was impossible not to! Everyone she met fell in love with her.

Soon after rescuing her, I noticed a patch of hair loss that started showing up on her ear. After some tests, it was confirmed that it was ringworm. While not life threatening, ringworm is incredibly contagious, so my poor girl had to be quarantined for 8 weeks while she was being treated! I felt terrible for her, and it broke my heart to not be able to love on her for so long.

She handled the quarantine like a champ, and finally she was ringworm free! The minute she was cleared of ringworm, I brought her to my parent's house to settle into home life. My parent's fell in love just as fast, and loved having Mama around. She was the perfect blend of playful, and cuddly. She followed everyone all around the house, and loved being doted on.

After having Mama at my parent's house for about two months, I was contacted by a family who was interested in meeting her. The family had three children and were excited to see if Mama would be the right fit. It turns out that I actually know the family through my church, and they live super close by! The whole family came the same day that they had reached out to me, because they were too excited to wait! They came to meet Mama, and of course they fell in love! They came back the next day after buying everything she would need in her new home. I was told that she slept in bed with her new mom and dad her first night in her forever home! They are so in love and I couldn't be happier!
